Let Go, Jump In: Community Marketing Strategies for Empowered Customers

Blog

The Integration of Social Media

Speakers:
Kit Seeborg, Board of Webvisions, Design for ROI, Seeborg Strategies Inc.
Jeremiah Owyang, Global Web Strategist, Community Marketing at Hitachi
Brian Oberkirch, marketing consultant in social media (aka "Recovering Agency Guy")
Dan Saffer, senior interaction designer for Adaptive Path

    Sharing Some of Brian's Thoughts:
  • The basic problem as to why the mass media is failing right now: Attention Scarcity.
  • The web provides us with the vehicle to listen in, communicate and have conversations.
  • There is far too much emphasis placed on applications - who cares HOW you communicate. The two most important tools are your head and your heart.
  • How committed are you to your audience?
  • Letting go is not laissez-fair.
  • The folks at flickr are marvelous at community building.
  • Connection Over Content.
  • Create consistency through persona.
  • What do you think about your customers? Do you know them? Are you afraid to open up your internal community to them? Get To Know Who They Are.
  • Identify the people who are interested in what you have to offer and understand who they are so you can speak to them effectively.

Pat The Back & Toot The Horn

Blog

Part of what makes living and doing business here in lovely Vancouver a complete joy are all of the swell people we get to meet and great companies we get to work with.

Raincity has recently teamed up with yet another stellar crew. We are in the midst of developing a super-cool new project with the folks over at The Nimble Group. The name is Rapspace: a cool interactive hip-hop project that is set to launch this June. That's all I am permitted to divulge on that one, top secret stuff don't ya know, but rest assured: it'll be awesome!

While it seems the mainstream media must continue to ask the question and define "What is web 2.0?", we're doin' it and livin' it, and we're happy to share all that we know. We're hopeful that the entirety of the msm just may catch up... maybe... someday. Scanning through the Globe and Mail's Backbone Magazine, Nimble's Sudha Krishna had a few words to say about the missing link in one particular article. We're pretty stoked that he did and we couldn't agree more!

Check it out.

Raincity Studios Launch Date A Mere Three Weeks Away

The What:
A Lanuch. We've chosen the course to revamp, restyle and redesign our current website to a new stellar, stylin' and sophisticated one for our studios.

The Why:
It's time. To showoff our design team expertise and talent, to showcase the work we've churned out and the rich clientele we've established and continue to build from, to highlight individual strengths and the team's cohesive connection.

The Where:
Where we've always been.

The How:
Spending countless, long days striving for perfection. The collective efforts of each person in the studio collaborating on the design, programming, marketing and writing, making it all come to fruition in that beautiful, easy way we always do.

The When:
May. 21. 2006.

The Sneak Peek:

Additional Hot Feature:

kk+ snapped our Rockstar mugs on a photowalk through the back alleys of Gastown. The results are nothing short of dreamy photography as he made us all look smokin'.

Stay tuned... May two-one...

It's real. And it's spectacular.
