As a parting shot to the festive period, I'll leave the tinsel behind with one last missive to recount the wintery wander I undertook with Father John's winter ale and worked our way on the rounds to interrupt the workflow of some of Vancouver's smartest and funnest folks.

Winter Is Upon Us: Hit The DogHouse

Doglotion.com is a new Raincity Drupal site for the extreme skiing community to connect, showcase their stuff, brag! - and anyone out there who wants to take part in the fun, can. All you have to do is register on the site and start uploading!

The site has been live for just over a month, and we've been watching the membership and participation grow to a healthy group of amazing (crazy) skiers.

Captain Ajax Workin' and Livin' on a Mountain

This week I headed over to the North Shore, where you rarely get out of second gear on a clear straight-away - something that normally drives us heavy-footed drivers crazy, and very much did so on this particular morning. I was late finding my destination, after having been misdirected by dudes at a car garage, a taxi cab driver and a postman. All people I figured were reliable sources for directions. (My cell phone was not an option as it's slightly out of commission at this present moment in time.) I should also state that there are TWO 2030 Marine Drive locations, so I was not completely out of the loop on the address. This is the right one.

Next weekend marks the one year anniversary of the original BarCamp, held last year in San Jose. Folks around the globe have latched onto this un-conference, ad-hoc sharing of knowledge and technology forum in a crazy frenzy sort of way, with BarCamps popping up everywhere from Vienna, to Brasil, to Shanghai.

And yes, Vancouver is now on the BarCamp map, as this city's first BarCamp gets set to kick-off next week, as a part of BarCampEarth, marking the anniversary.
