Podcasting for Social Change - A Net Tuesday All-Star Panel with DaveO
Blog
Here is your chance to see Raincity Studios' DaveO in action. It's all happening at Net Tuesday 4 - Podcasting for Social change, Tuesday July 8th at 5:30pm.
DaveO will be heading up and moderating a presentation on the art of podcasting: how to make a show; the benefits of micro-broadcasting; promoting your show; and how podcasting can spread your social change message.
The all-star panel features mobile guru, Roland Tanglao (also from Raincity Studios), John Bollwitt (audio engineer, and podcaster from RadioZoom and Crazy Canucks) and Rob Cottingham (social change technologist, humourist and Bedtime podcaster).
DaveO made a quickie video to get everyone excited about the presentation - check it out:

NetSquared Day 1 Reflections
BlogMy brain is full of ideas and I have met many many fantastic people but there are two highlights for me: Marnie Webb challenging NetSquared attendees to come up with next actions and Angela Glover Blackwell's opening plenary (where I learned about Lousiana Rebuilds)
Open source and your non profit
BlogI'm giving a presentation on open source and your non-profit as part of the NetSquared "Remote" Conference. It will likely pull some elements from a presentation I gave called Open Source and Your Business. I'll be talking about the culture/philosophy behind open source, how it aligns with the some of the needs of non profits, but also the business and technical aspects of open source. The big tension is while non profits understand and are used to the sharing/cooperative nature of open source, there is often a lack of expertise in the technology component.
The remote section is using a tool called Gabbly, which embeds a chat window directly into the page. It even has an RSS feed which "archives" the flow of chat conversations. Very cool.
Please bring your own thoughts, comments, and questions and join me for the live chat tomorrow, May 31st, at 1pm PST on the remote page.
