Autumn Camps for Vancouver Geeks on the Go
Blog
Geekfests!
Summer's winding down which means less camping camping, and more indoor camping, on the agenda.
Next up to add to your geek fest calendar are two free-form, inter-disciplinary meetups in Vancouver:
MobileCampVancouver2 at WorkSpace on Saturday, Sept.6th.
BarCampVancouver2008 at locations Granville Island on Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 27th-28th.
Both are participatory events with presentations selected by vox populi at the beginning of the session. Check out the the Rules of Bar Camp to learn what to expect.
MobileCamp Vancouver 2
Alas, MCV2 runs concurrently with Drupal Camp Victoria but there are enough enthusiasts around to make both events a success. MCV2 is sponsored by Mobile Muse - an applied research and developmet project funded by the Canadian government to conduct projects in the emerging mobile space.
Blurb:
MobileCampVancouver is bringing together iPhone junkies, Crackberry addicts, couch surfers, coffee shop hackers, vagabonds and mobile nomads to share the current state and their visions for the future direction of mobility.
First Ruby Meetup "A Hit"
Blog
This past week saw the first meetup for the Vancouver Ruby Brigade. Organizers Jeremy Hubert and Zed Shaw were expecting anywhere between 8-10 Ruby gurus to roll out of the woodwork, after all, 'twas the mere first meetup in this new endeavor.
Drupal PHP Guru Wanted
BlogDrupal and PHP Rockstars:
Raincity is looking for a kool kat with the Drupal know-how to rock our socks off. If you're a PHP star, we want to talk to you.
We at Raincity are a jolly bunch of folks, working as a cohesive team on many cool projects. We're looking for a young, crazy cat who plays well with others to jump on board and rock our world.
PHP is essential, familiarity with CMS' is a must, and knowing Drupal gets you huge bonus points. Web 2.0, Social Networking and webstandards required. Open source is the name of the game - you'd need to be willing to release code for others to build on.
