Drupal Camp Montreal plus Scales in NYC
BlogDrupal Camp Montreal
In the wake of Drupal Camps in Victoria and LA, BarCamp Vancouver and of course DrupalCon in Hungary, the undaunted Raincity Studios crew is now heading east to La Belle Province for Drupal Camp Montreal.
Raincity Studios' CEO, Robert Scales and Production Director, Francis Pilon are both making the trip to their home province of Quebec to collaborate with Drupalists this coming weekend, Oct. 3rd and 4th.
Bryght en Français
With a French version of the Bryght Drupal install profile in the works, I suspect they'll have a chance to share with Francophone Drupalists seeking hosting and configuration in their preferred language.
Drupalists Koumbit are hosting the event and have a great plan in mind. They describe themselves as "a non-profit organisation which promotes the use of free & open source software by community groups in Quebec, Canada ..." Sounds very cool.
Koumbit are working closely with our man in Africa, Adrian, on the development of Ægir - the evolution of Hostmaster - the open source Drupal mass deployment project which is at the heart of Bryght Drupal hosting (see Adrian's presentation at DrupalCon).
The best of the tech and activist worlds
BlogIn a few short weeks, I have taken in BarCamp Vancouver, Drupal Camp LA, Digital Identity World, Drupal Camp Victoria and Drupal Camp Seattle.
Sushi lunch and North Studio visit at Drupal Camp Victoria
BlogTaking a lunch break at Drupal Camp Victoria, DaveO of Raincity Studios banters with some lunching Drupalists and visits the classrooms at North Studio. He also meets dcvic08 ringleader Gord Christmas plus chats with Sarah Davies who is using Drupal to effectuate social change with the Seattle ACLU. Filmed by Dale McGladdery.
Drupal Camp Victoria: The Novice's Take
BlogAs Raincity Studios’ newly anointed Project Manager, my first line of work was to be formally christened to “Drupalism”. So coming from one very novice Drupaler who was literally two weeks fresh to the Drupal world, Drupal camp Victoria was to sum it up - intoxicating. Not only was it Drupal hour every hour, but also (and hats off to those brilliant folks who decided to host the event on the same weekend as Beerfest) happy hour seemingly the entire two days through.
Our hosts at North Studio truly created a welcoming space to learn and meet friends. Having very little Drupal knowledge of my own to impart and reeling from the Drupal stimulus around, I was delighted to find other like-minded individuals who shared in my complete and utter confusion. A day into it though, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I was beginning to learn and how many pieces of the puzzle seemed to jig saw its way together into a pretty picture of Drupal goodness, thanks to all the generous individuals who volunteered their time to put on tutorials and answer questions.
Raincity goes to Drupal Camp Victoria: Part 1 Geeks on a Ferry
BlogHere's some community building funtimes - not much technical geekery here but some fun banter and a sense of how the extended Drupal tribe roll.
Checking in from the BC ferry en route to Victoria, Dave O of Raincity Studios chats with some of the crew on the Vancouver geek bus heading to Drupal Camp Victoria hosted by North Studio.
The Drupalists discuss which interests they are pursuing, their experience level and desired participation in the event. Along with cameraman Dale McGladdery, Dave discusses the excellent timing of the Drupal Camp coinciding with the Great Canadian Beer Fest and offer shout-outs to the sponsors of Drupal Camp Vancouver.
