CHINA: It's Real.
Ideas Into Action: Business Development in China - How Are You Getting Involved?
China Access 2008The idea behind China Access 2008 began back in the year 1997 in anticipation of the 2000 Summer Olympics, when a group of visionaries initiated action to help keep Sydney a sustainable and viable city for business after the storm of an Olympic Games blew in and out of town. Andrew Gilkes spearheaded the project and has taken the framework and success and applied them to other Olympic cities, leading him to implement the same process for Beijing 2008. Teaming up with Alan Carroll, founder and Executive Chairman of the Pacific Rim Forum, and Hal Josephson, President of MediaSenseâ„¢ Inc., together, they have created China Access 2008 to generate and promote business opportunities in China, and in turn the South Pacific.
BC and China Businesses CollaborateThere have been several forums that have already taken place both here in Vancouver, BC and in China, where local businesses, politicians and government agencies have come together to strategize and learn from one another in developing and exploring business opportunities for Canadian and Chinese partnerships.
In May, China Access 2008 held its' first forum in Vancouver, inviting several local companies to showcase their established, successful business projects and relationships in China. Robert Scales and Kris Krug have recently returned from a trip to China where they met with several key players in Beijing, the Vice Mayor being one, while initiating their involvement with the business community, gaining further knowledge in the technology sector and establishing working relationships. They will be making a second trip to China in the Fall. Read more about this specific business visit program and register to attend.
Upcoming Events: Getting InvolvedHal Josephson will be in Vancouver on July 24th giving a special presentation on developing business strategies in China. There will also be a government representative from international trade in attendance to provide additional knowledge in accessing government funding for projects and travel to China. Find more information about this event and Hal's previous experiences and successes in China here. Register via email and register on upcoming.
In the Fall 2006, China Access 2008 is holding another business forum that will span over several days in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. This will prove to be of great value for those wishing to initiate business contacts and relationships with Chinese companies. You can read about the full program here and register, or attend Hal's special presentation to learn all you need to know in preparation for this forum and strategizing with China Access 2008.
In keeping with the initiative that began almost 10 years ago, bringing business to Beijing as they stage the Olympic Games in 2 years time is a real and unique opportunity with great economic and sustainable potential for China and the surrounding Asian Pacific nations.
