Dressing Locally at Glad Rags
Raincity Studios Dresses Locally Head-To-Toe
Fashion High, along with the participation from many local fashion designers and boutiques, celebrated fashion design in Vancouver last night at the Glad Rags Party at the St. James Community Square in Kitsilano.
Not only was the venue a treat - church pews and a catwalk for an altar - there was a plethora of entertainment and stimuli for the taking.
Glencora Twigg of Twigg and Hottie was our stylish and lovely MC for the evening, as she guided us through the night of fashion shows, live jazz from Vancouver's Hot Club of Mars, record-spinnin with DJ Girl Cherise and plenty of raffle prize giveaways.
All were gathered at the event to raise awareness, increase knowledge and educate the consumer on sustainable design and the thriving local fashion scene in Vancouver. And it's thriving! The main players at the event were Twigg and Hottie, Mala Kuja and Hemptown, but plenty more local businesses were involved, with beautiful designs in the show:
Fine Finds, Liquid, Twice Shy, Grace Cello, Smoking Lily, Skyler, just to name a few!
Dorothy Woodend and Vanessa Richmond from The Tyee, an online independent alternative daily newspaper, shared a few funny tails of their plight to dress locally head-to-toe.
Fashion High, under the umbrella of Balle BC will use this event as a launching pad to continue the endeavor to encourage and inform us all about how to properly dress for sustainability success!
"Support us - everything in your closet should be locally made, created, produced!"

Check out more from Glencora Twigg as I snuck her into a back stairwell and had a chat about the event and the fashion scene in Vancouver:
