Open Source CMS News Round-up - Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla etc.
BlogYou probably saw all of these articles already but ... in case you missed any ... get comfy, pour a beverage and do some reading about Open Source CMSs in the news:
Drupal and The Future of News
Tech writer Kurt Cagle from Open Source Pixels {cribbed article bio: managing editor of XML.com, lives in Victoria, British Columbia, and is beginning to wonder what happened to summer - Ed note: Ditto on the summer ;-)} offers a wide-ranging narrative about his experiences with Drupal, (including a name-check of Bryght/Raincity Studios) in his June 1, 2008 article. Well worth a read for his interesting historical and technical perspectives.
KK and BMann at Bridging Media
Blog
In continuing coverage (otherwise known as "staying up with the Raincity crews' activities"), here's a recap of Bridging Media at the Great Northern Way campus (AKA The Hangar). The event was wrangled up by Megan Cole and Erica Hargreave with able assistance by RCS's KK and Bmann and the speaker roster included many of our Van-groovy eco-system.
Recent Event Round-up - Web Directions, Drupal Themeing and Launch Party 3
Blog
As you've likely noticed, the Raincity Studios squad are out n' about, presenting and representing at plenty of events around Vangroovy.
Most gigs get a recap of their own but, in the interest of convenience, here are a few other posts and blurbs popping up here and there.
Drupal Themeing
Great reviews so far for Mark and Steve's themeing spiel at Vancouver Drupal Users' Group - January 2008: Drupal Theming, From Design Draft to Theme there's even rumours of an impending follow-up.
Their Drupal themeing presentation slides are available web-licly via the Google.

Raincity'll be Taking Northern Voice by Storm
Blog
In the seemingly endless stream of meet-ups, conferences, un-events, random occurrences and edu-tainment of all kinds, there is one event which reigns supreme and I posit is Vancouver's must-go
event.
Anyone interested in: a) social media creation, b) meeting collaborators in an unpretentious environment, c) good times - should really show up for both days.
Web Directions North - Boris Mann to Speak about Dynamic Systems
Blog
Loading up your calendar with geeky goodness with another big-time event - Web Directions North 2008. Naturally, some of the Raincity Studios clan will be on the scene.
This time Vancouver technology consultant and VP of Product Development, Boris Mann is speaking about (what else?) using open CMS for sharing content. Additionally, El Presidente Kris Krug will put on this fashion and editorial photography toque as the on-site photo-maker to document the splendor of designers at work and play.
The Web Directions North line-up features a raft of speakers from hot-shot companies you've probably heard of (or should have anyhow) and includes lots of our webby pals like Citizen Agency's Tara Hunt and Chris Messina (real life and professional partners), nitobi super-hero Andre Charland, and many more making the trip to our beautiful 'burg. The event is notably taking some time to enjoy the local environs.
