Day one at SXSW Interactive.

We’re here at the first sessions of the morning. I opted for the CSS panel moderated by Eric Myer (Principal, Complex Spiral Consulting). On the panel Molly Holzschlag (Pres, Molly.com Inc), Chris Wilson (IE Platform Architect, Microsoft), Douglas Bowman (Visual Design Lead, Google). Not an easy choice with the abundance of amazing panels happening here, but a good one.

Eric moved the panel forward by posing a series of questions looking at the history, rise, and current state of CSS. Some of the questions posed to the panel:

  • When was your first introduction to CSS?
  • How did CSS survive its first five years?
  • Key moments in CSS history?
  • What’s the biggest missing piece in CSS?
  • What does the future hold?

The question everyone is dieing to know, what are the panellist favourite CSS properties? Here they are:

  • Chris - “margin”
  • Molly - “display”
  • Doug… - “background”
  • Eric - "overflow"
