iStolen Mac Returned to WorkSpace
In Sept., our neighbors and friends at WorkSpace unintentionally got caught up in an Interweb maelstrom when the iMac which graces the coffee bar was stolen mere days before their first anniversary.
The computer was sold and ended up in Victoria where the new "owner" inadvertently self-published a photo of his mug and tattoos to WorkSpace's Flickr photostream.
His ignorance begat a cacophony of blogging activity followed by a mainstream media feeding frenzy over the following days.
All the TV/Web/Newspaper coverage led to the perp's lawyer calling to say, "Hey man you are Internet famous, fully busted (and I am billing you for this call)."
Well, the story has come full circle. While grabbing a vanilla soy latte this morning, I noticed the iMac is back - merrily humming along on the WorkSpace counter with evidence tags still attached.
While a pain in the kiester for WorkSpace, this incident provided a great example of the speed and power of social media publication and is demonstrative of how mainstream media is a follower rather then the breaker in contemporary news delivery.
Oh BTW Dane makes a heck of a beverage!

Who?
So... did they catch the guy?
